Job summary

University of New Mexico’s American Indian Student Services (AISS) is recruiting a Professional Support Intern to assist in student programming and outreach. The role focuses on coaching student employees, creating social media content, and supporting department projects related to recruitment and student success.

Ideal candidates are currently enrolled or recent graduates, with strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Project planning skills.
  • Social media content development.
  • Ability to understand and follow complex and detailed technical instructions.
  • Logistics support with student leadership, mentorship, and retention initiatives.
  • Conducting recruitment & outreach activities and other student support service-related projects/programs in partnership with various campus departments.
  • Creating design sets and copy for print publications/digital & web-based communication/social media platforms utilizing Canva, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Working on a team and/or in a collaborative work-setting, multi-tasking and creative problem-solving and working in a high-traffic customer service environment.
  • Effectively communicating and interacting with various tribal governments, organizations, higher education programs; and a wide range of individuals representing diverse communities.

Responsibilities

  • Create and support student-led programming with daily coaching for AISS student employees.
  • Support content creation for AISS social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook).
  • Provide administrative support for department projects and outreach efforts.
  • Assist with planning of academic advising, financial aid, scholarships, and student support services.
  • Assist in collecting, maintaining, and analyzing program activity data and reports.
