Job summary

The University of New Mexico is seeking a Professional Support Intern in Albuquerque to help support American Indian Student Services programs and student success initiatives. You will coach student employees, manage content for social platforms, and assist with outreach, program design, and event planning.

This role emphasizes collaboration with diverse communities, handling logistics, and producing publication materials across Canva, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.

Qualifications

  • Must be currently enrolled at an accredited university in a Bachelor's or higher level degree program, and be within 12 months of graduating OR a recent graduate within 24 months.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project planning, social media content development, and coordinating student leadership initiatives.
  • Experience collaborating with diverse communities, including tribal governments and higher education programs.
  • Ability to interpret and follow complex technical instructions and translate into actionable tasks.
  • Experience creating design sets and copy for print/digital materials using Canva, Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop.
  • Strong teamwork and communication across diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-traffic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Create and support student‑led programming with daily coaching for AISS student employees.
  • Develop content for AISS social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook).
  • Support staff on recruitment, outreach, program design, staff training and facilities planning.
  • Provide administrative services for daily department operations under supervision.
  • Assist with planning and implementing programmatic initiatives related to advising, financial aid, and student support.
  • Assist with collecting and analyzing program activity data and helping prepare reports.
  • Assist with development of complex projects, operations, and events.
  • Participate as a department representative in campus student programming initiatives.
