Job summary

Monroe Community College is seeking a Specialist II in the Student Success & Advising Services team. The role focuses on onboarding, retention, and goal attainment for students, with emphasis on first-generation and underrepresented groups.

Requires strong communication and collaboration with faculty and staff. This temporary, full-time grant-funded position offers opportunities to coordinate advising activities, use campus systems, and implement interventions to promote persistence and degree

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Minimum of three years of professional experience in education, student services, advising, counseling, human services, or a related field.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Bilingual ability in Spanish or other languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in implementing a college-wide advisement program to meet enrollment and student success goals.
• Develop relationships with a caseload of students to identify and resolve barriers to success.
• Support first-generation, students of color, and low-income students in their transition to MCC.
• Communicate clearly about programs of study, graduation requirements, and resources.
• Assist with pathway, career, and transfer exploration and planning across assigned School.
• Monitor and assess student performance to provide proactive outreach and interventions.
