Job summary

City Year is seeking an entry-level, paid AmeriCorps member to support students as a coach and mentor in Cambridge, Massachusetts. You will work with elementary to high school students to promote academic success, attendance, and positive behaviors, under the guidance of teachers and school staff.

You will receive 2–4 weeks of initial training and participate in ongoing student-focused programming, with a focus on teamwork and professional development within City Year’s educational model.

Qualifications

• Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident.
• Be 17-25 by July 1, 2025.
• Have a GED or high school diploma, some college experience, or college degree.
• Be able to begin City Year by July/August 2025 (start date varies by location).
• Agree to and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

• Coach and mentor students to earn academic success, improve attendance, and develop positive behaviors.
• Plan and monitor individual student progress and collaborate with teachers on in-class instruction.
• Support whole-school initiatives and engage families through programs and events.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space and contribute to student data collection and reviews.
