Job summary

City Year AmeriCorps members coach and mentor students across elementary to high school levels, focusing on academic success, attendance improvement, and positive behaviors. Training is provided, with collaboration with partner teachers and school staff throughout the year.

You will participate in 2-4 weeks of initial training and ongoing support, helping students with literacy, math, and classroom engagement. This is a paid, full-time AmeriCorps role in Wichita, KS.

Qualifications

• Experience in coaching and mentoring is not required; training provided at start of year.
• Work with teachers and staff to support students' academic progress.
• Help students develop literacy and math skills and positive behaviors.
• Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and participate in data reviews.
• Create a safe, engaging classroom space in partnership with the teacher.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring students 1:1 and in small groups.
• Support literacy and math skill development with varied activities.
• Implement and monitor behavior management strategies.
• Foster interpersonal skills through daily routines and reflection.
