Job summary

Shoreline Community College seeks an Academic Advisor in the Advising Services Department. The role provides comprehensive academic advising, educational planning, and student success coaching to diverse students across transfer and technical programs.

The advisor supports students through advising appointments, workshops, and resource referrals, while collaborating with faculty, staff, and community partners to promote inclusive student outcomes.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Student Development, Education, Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or closely related field.
• Two years of professional experience in academic advising, career development, counseling, or student development theory.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications, electronic student information systems, and other instructional or student success technologies.

Responsibilities

• Advise prospective and current students on academic planning, educational pathways, transfer options, and degree or certificate completion requirements.
• Develop individualized educational plans and monitor student progress toward goals.
• Provide advising through appointments, drop-ins, orientations, registration support, workshops, and group information sessions.
• Conduct proactive outreach to assigned student caseloads to support retention and enrollment.
• Serve as a liaison to instructional divisions and collaborate with faculty and staff.
