Job summary

YES Prep Public Schools in Houston, TX seeks a Teaching Assistant to support Special Education and General Education teachers across instructional settings. This is a 10-month, hourly position with compensation from $15.25 to $18.96 per hour.

You will assist with behavior management, data maintenance, lesson tailoring, and administration of tests, while helping students develop self-help and academic skills. Requirements include a High School Diploma and at least 2 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Interest in working one-on-one with a student with significant needs, including medical needs.
• Ability to physically assist students with self-help, mobility, academic, and behavioral skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Special Education and General Education teachers with supervision of students in all instructional settings.
• Assist with behavior management techniques by modeling and reinforcing desired behaviors.
• Maintain data as identified by teachers, students’ IEP goals, and/or Behavior Intervention Plans.
• Tailor lessons to meet individual student needs.
• Support lesson plans by practicing and reinforcing concepts.
• Assist students with self-help and academic skills.
• Assist with administration and scoring of tests and work assignments.
• Implement accommodations and/or modifications as directed.
• Adapt activities and materials to support classroom objectives.
• Monitor students during transitions.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
