Job summary

Lone Star College-Tomball is seeking an Advisor I to meet with students in assigned disciplines, track progress and support retention. You will guide course selection, refer to non-credit programs, and coordinate with faculty to design effective academic support activities.

This role emphasizes data-driven advising, accurate documentation, and timely referrals to campus resources. A Bachelor's degree and at least one year of related experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with at least 1 year of related experience, or equivalent education/experience.
• Experience working in higher education is preferred.
• Experience assisting students with barriers to educational success is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise students in assigned department and meet regularly to track progress
• Review Academic Advising Report and create My Educational Plan (MEP)
• Guide course selections for degree/certificate programs and refer to non-credit options
• Collect and process data on students to support advising tasks
• Collaborate with department staff to identify early interventions
• Refer students to counselors and campus resources when needed
• Assist directors/managers in planning academic support programs and events
• Develop department objectives and strategies
• Document meetings and monitor student progress
• Ensure processes and materials comply with policies
• Perform other related duties as assigned
