Job summary

Lone Star College is seeking an Advisor I in the Kingwood area to meet with students in assigned disciplines, track progress, and guide academic planning. You will help students choose courses, review progress, and refer to non-credit options as needed.

The role emphasizes collaboration with department staff and timely interventions to support student success in a dynamic, campus-based environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 1 year of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Advises students in assigned department/discipline and meets with them regularly to track progress.
• Assists students with reviewing their Academic Advising Report and creating their My Educational Plan (MEP).
• Advises on proper course selection for programs and makes referrals to non-credit certificates.
• Acquires and processes data regarding students to complete job functions.
• Collaborates with college staff and faculty to identify early intervention needs.
• Refers students to counselors and campus/community resources when needed.
• Assists Directors/Managers in planning and developing academic support programming and events.
• Develops department objectives and monitors progress, ensuring documentation is accurate.
