Job summary

Lone Star College-Tomball is seeking an Advisor I to meet with students in assigned disciplines, help select courses for credit programs, monitor academic progress, and guide retention and completion efforts to support student success.

You will collaborate with department staff and other offices to identify early interventions, refer students to counselors and campus resources, and maintain accurate meeting notes and documentation in accordance with college policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of related experience
• Experience in higher education preferred
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Responsibilities

• Advises students in assigned department and meets regularly to track progress
• Assists students with Academic Advising Reports and My Educational Plan (MEP)
• Advises on proper course selection and makes referrals to non-credit programs
• Maintains data and documentation; ensures accuracy and compliance with policies
• Collaborates with college staff and faculty to identify early interventions
• Refers students to counselors and campus resources as needed
• Plans and develops academic support programming and events
• Develops department objectives and tracks progress
