Job summary

State of Georgia, West Georgia Technical College is seeking an Academic Advisor for the Coweta campus to provide advisement and education planning to technical college students. You will interpret placement tests, help students develop education plans, and guide them through degree progress while documenting interactions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of related work experience.
• Experience with student information systems such as Banner or Degree Works is preferred.
• Strong understanding of FERPA and student privacy requirements.

Responsibilities

• Advise students on academic requirements and course selection.
• Review placement scores and interpret prerequisites.
• Monitor student registration and maintain accurate records in Banner/Degree Works.
• Refer students to financial aid, tutoring, admissions, and other services as needed.
• Coordinate communications about advisement and enrollment activities.
