Job summary

Georgia State University is seeking multiple Academic Advisor I positions in the University Advisement Center on the Atlanta Campus. The role provides academic advising, educational planning, and policy interpretation to prospective and current students to support degree progression and student success.

Responsibilities include outreach, retention, case management, reviewing student records, orientation facilitation, and collaboration with faculty and staff on committees and projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and related experience.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience presenting to groups or with group facilitation.
• Experience following up on problems until resolution.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advising, educational planning and policy interpretation to prospective and current students.
• Conduct student outreach, retention, and case management activities.
• Review, maintain, and audit student records as well as monitor degree progression.
• Assist with student orientation facilitation, workshops, presentations, and student success initiatives.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and university stakeholders on committee participation, professional development, and special projects.
