Job summary

Troy University in Michigan is seeking a Project Advisor for Student Support Services to serve as an academic advisor for program participants. The role involves administering and evaluating needs surveys, creating IASPs, and providing coaching in writing, math, and study skills.

You will assist with graduate school planning and conduct student development workshops. You will accompany participants to cultural events, participate in professional development, and handle other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in higher education, social work, psychology, or related field
• Two years of relevant professional experience in a TRIO federal program or similar program for disadvantaged/at-risk college students
• Experience coordinating and supervising project programming and field experiences
• Experience advising participants with graduate school admissions and financial aid
• Experience overcoming barriers similar to those confronting project participants

Responsibilities

• Advise program participants on academic planning and progress
• Administer and evaluate academic and needs surveys
• Create and maintain Individual Academic and Service Plans (IASP)
• Provide individual and group coaching in writing, math, and study skills
• Assist with graduate/professional school planning
• Develop and conduct student development/academic workshops
• Accompany participants to cultural events
• Attend professional development training
• Perform other duties as assigned by Project Coordinator
• Travel may be required as needed
