Michigan State University’s Detroit M.A.D.E Scholars Program seeks an Academic Advisor who will engage scholars with proactive advising, assisting in academics, career development and leadership. The role reports to the Program Director and supports underrepresented students toward successful college completion.

The advisor will lead intake interviews, goal setting, and follow-ups, collaborate with campus partners, mentor undergraduate peers, and design data-driven outreach campaigns to boost

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in higher education, student affairs, K-12 education, or another related field.

Responsabilités

• Advise a diverse group of students on academic and social needs using intrusive and proactive advising techniques.
• Collaborate with university and college advisors across campus to ensure successful transition of students from high school to MSU.
• Provide individual advising for course planning and registration, early warning outreach, major exploration, and post-graduate planning.
• Maintain records of advising activity to drive data-driven campaigns for student persistence and success.
• Understand and implement academic policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with colleagues and campus partners in academic units, Enrollment Services, and Residence Life.
• Utilize Student Information System to manage advising interactions and confidential records.
• Support undergraduate peer mentors and planning of student support programs and events.
• Engage in campus advising community and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.
