Job summary

The University of New Haven is seeking an Academic Success Advisor to join the advising and student success network. This role supports first- and second-year students with academic planning, transition to university expectations, and proactive outreach to promote persistence and degree completion.

You will collaborate with faculty, registrar, and student support offices, monitor progress using Navigate, and respond to crises with coordinated interventions.

Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in related academic or counseling field.
• Experience in higher education advising and student support.
• Ability to build rapport with diverse student populations.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to pursue Appreciative Advising certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental academic advising for first- and second-year students.
• Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and registrar to support course selection and progression.
• Monitor student progress using Navigate to identify at-risk students.
• Conduct proactive outreach for midterm deficiencies and alerts.
• Coordinate crisis support with campus partners and develop intervention plans.
• Support orientation and pre-registration activities for new students.
• Refer students to tutoring and other resources.
