Job summary

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of academic policies, procedures, college curricular matters, major requirements, counseling practices, development theory to create a student-centered academic environment.
  • Ability to identify and analyze problems and develop realistic solutions.
  • Effective written, presentation and verbal skills with empathetic communication to build trust with students.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Advising: Advise students on academic plans, course registration, and progress; identify at-risk students and provide coaching and referrals.
  • Class Year Administration: Graduation clearance, audits, transfer credit evaluation, dean’s reports, academic standing reviews; participate in orientations.
  • Service & Professional Development: Develop advising initiatives with faculty mentors to improve student experience and retention.
  • Teaching: Teach sections of First Year Experience and supervise undergraduate TAs.
