Job summary

The University of New Haven seeks an Academic Success Advisor to join its advising and student success network. You will support first- and second-year students with academic planning, course selection, and progress tracking, using Navigate, Degree Works, and Banner.

You will also participate in crisis and case management, coordinating with deans, faculty, and student support offices to promote persistence and degree completion.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree required in related field.
• Experience in higher education advising preferred.
• Strong counseling and crisis intervention skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Familiarity with campus resources and policies.

Responsibilities

• Provide supplemental advising for first- and second-year students within the assigned college.
• Collaborate with faculty advisors, program coordinators, and registrar’s office to ensure accurate course selection and progress.
• Use Navigate and related tools to monitor student progress and identify early signs of difficulty.
• Conduct proactive outreach to students and coordinate with campus offices for supports.
• Develop Academic Success Plans and monitor progress with regular check-ins.
• Assist with crisis management and intervention planning as needed.
