Job summary

Wheeling Hospital seeks a Respiratory Care Aide to evaluate and care for respiratory patients under the supervision of a licensed therapist. The role requires WV licensure and a Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire, with the ability to set up oxygen devices and administer inhaled medications.

Responsibilities include spirometry, peak flow, and assisting with airway clearance techniques while coordinating with the healthcare team and educating patients and families as needed.

Qualifications

• Must possess licensure as required by the state board where services will be provided.
• WV-specific: Student Respiratory Care Permit through the West Virginia Board of Respiratory Care.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and provide care for respiratory therapy patients under supervision of a licensed therapist.
• Set up and maintain low flow oxygen devices (6 LPM or less).
• Deliver medications via nebulizer, MDI or dry powder inhaler, and assess peak flow and spirometry.
• Assist with airway clearance devices/techniques and communicate with the healthcare team.
• Educate patients and families in collaboration with the care team.
