Job summary

WH Wheeling Hospital Inc. in Wheeling, West Virginia is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to evaluate and care for patients and administer prescribed respiratory therapies.

You will operate respiratory care equipment and work as part of the healthcare team to support neonatal through geriatric patients. The ideal candidate holds WV licensure, obtains BLS within 30 days, and has at least one year of experience.

Qualifications

• Licensed Respiratory Therapist (WV) as per state board requirements.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
• ACLS, PALS, NRP, STABLE certifications encouraged/required as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic and advanced respiratory therapies for neonatal, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients as ordered.
• Assemble, check, and troubleshoot respiratory care equipment.
• Initiate, maintain, and discontinue mechanical ventilation as prescribed.
• Communicate effectively with the health care team regarding patient care.
• Educate patients and families and participate in staff education.
• Participate in department quality assurance and hospital-wide improvement activities.
• Perform diagnostic procedures as ordered and maintain clinical competencies.
• Maintain readiness to apply department competencies and standards.
