Job summary

University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Student Affairs Specialist II to support and advance the university's student organizations and programs. The role includes advising undergraduate and graduate groups, managing the Engage platform, and training student leaders.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree with two years’ related experience; a Master’s degree is preferred. Strong organization, communication, and event-planning skills are essential, with some evening or weekend work

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Social Sciences or related field; two years of related experience required.
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
  • Master’s degree preferred in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Leadership or related field.
  • Knowledge of advising and student organization management is required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide primary support for UAB’s student organization community for undergrad and graduate students.
  • Oversee the University’s Engage online involvement platform.
  • Manage student organization registrations and re-registrations and review event submissions.
  • Advise Freshman Forum, a first-year student organization within the UGSAA.
  • Advise UAB Pathfinders (involvement mentors) and conduct monthly Involvement Fair programming.
  • Assist in planning and assessment of ConnectFest and Stress-Less Week; perform other duties as assigned.
