Job summary

Wellstar Medical Group, LLC invites current nursing students to join the Student Nurse Extern Program. The extern provides basic bedside care under the direction of a registered nurse and gains experiential learning toward professional practice while completing an RN degree.

Under the Nurse Manager, the SNE performs age-appropriate care, assists with basic procedures, and supports the healthcare team in a fast-paced environment with a focus on compassionate patient service.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required with at least one nursing pre-licensure clinical rotation.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association required.
• At least one acute care clinical rotation completed.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Perform hygiene, nutrition and comfort measures as assigned.
• Transport supplies, medications and equipment as needed.
• Assist with ambulatory needs, vital signs, and hourly rounding.
• Maintain patient rooms and ensure infection control practices are followed.
• Communicate patient care concerns to the RN promptly.
