UNC Health in Chapel Hill, NC, offers a Student Nurse Extern I internship from May 24 to July 31, 2027. The program immerses prelicensure nursing students in clinical practice, working with an RN partner within their Nursing Assistant I scope of practice.

Responsibilities include direct and indirect patient care, documentation, and patient/family education under supervision. Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program with anticipated graduation within 12 months.

Formación

• Fluent in English (verbal and written).
• Basic computer skills required.
• CPR certification preferred.
• Must be able to lift 40-50 lbs and assist with patient handling.

Responsabilidades

• Observe and document patient information; report significant changes to RN/Provider.
• Assist patients and families during admission, orientation, and discharge.
• Perform routine care tasks as outlined in the plan of care, including vitals, measurements, and basic activities of daily living.
• Provide direct and indirect care, maintain clean and stocked work areas, and support learning for students.

High school diploma or GED

Enrolled in accredited prelicensure nursing program (within 12 months of graduation)
