Job summary

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center invites applications for a part-time Student Assistant to support library operations, help patrons, and circulate materials. You will assist students, faculty, and staff by phone and in person, answer reference questions, and help with printers and computers.

Qualified applicants are enrolled in at least six hours, with preference for prior customer service experience.

Visa Information

Position Description

A student enrolled in an institution of higher education other thanTexas Tech University or Texas Tech University Health SciencesCenter employed to perform work as assigned by thesupervisor.

Major/Essential Functions

Student assistants are responsible for:

• circulating library materials using the computer system
• assisting students, faculty, and staff on the telephone andin-person
• answering incoming telephone calls and providing information onlibrary services
• redirecting telephone calls with reference questions tolibrarians
• staffing the Circulation and Reference desks
• assisting patrons with printers and computers

Occasional Duties

Student assistants will be asked to perform other duties asneeded.

Required Qualifications

A student enrolled in at least six hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience
• Must be available to work at least one of the followingshifts Mondays through Thursdays
  • Mornings: 8:00am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoons: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Evenings: 4:00pm to 9:00pm
• Must be available to work rotating weekends
  • Saturday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Sunday: 1:00pm to 9:00pm
