Visa Information

TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case‑by‑case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change‑of‑status or change‑of‑employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.

Position Description

A student enrolled in an institution of higher education other than Texas Tech University or Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center employed to perform work as assigned by the supervisor.

Major/Essential Functions

Student assistants are responsible for:

• circulating library materials using the computer system
• assisting students, faculty, and staff on the telephone and in-person
• answering incoming telephone calls and providing information on library services
• redirecting telephone calls with reference questions to librarians
• staffing the Circulation and Reference desks
• assisting patrons with printers and computers

Occasional Duties

Student assistants will be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications

A student enrolled in at least six hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous customer service experience
• Must be available to work at least one of the following shiftsMondays through Thursdays
  • Mornings: 8:00am to 12:00pm
  • Afternoons: 12:00pm to 4:00pm
  • Evenings: 4:00pm to 9:00pm
• Must be available to work rotating weekends
  • Saturday: 9:00am to 5:00pm
  • Sunday: 1:00pm to 9:00pm
