Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
• Must be highly qualified. Governed by the Rules and Regulations of the Tennessee Code Annotated and the collective bargaining agreement.
• Proof of education, training, and/or experience is required.

Responsibilities

• Creates an educational environment conducive to learning and prepares instructional materials; provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
• Assesses student progress and provides written and oral progress reports; administers tests and assessments.
• Plans interventions and prepares lessons to meet individual needs based on state and school requirements.
• Confers with parents, administrators, specialists, mental health staff, and resource staff to develop educational programs.
• Motivates students and provides reinforcement of learning skills with continuous assessment and feedback.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district regulations.
• Uses screening and progress monitoring data to determine interventions.
• Develops school-based instruction and intervention maps at core and intervention levels.
• Ensures evaluation of fidelity of core and intervention instruction.
• Implements documentation to ensure sufficiency of interventions.
• Evaluates response to instruction/intervention for groups and individuals.
• Participates in data meetings to determine learner-centered problems and practice.
• Uses root-cause analysis (5 Whys) of teacher implementation and student gaps.

Education

Bachelor's degree with endorsement in the grade/subject taught

Master's degree (for degree equivalency)
