Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree and endorsement in the grade/subject taught with a valid Tennessee certificate.
• Must be highly qualified per Tennessee rules and bargaining agreement.
• Must be physically and mentally able to perform the responsibilities and duties of the position.

Responsibilities

• Creates an educational environment conducive to learning; prepares instructional materials and provides evidence of preparation upon request.
• Maintains classroom management in and outside of school.
• Assesses student progress and provides reports to parents and administrators; administers tests and assessments.
• Plans curriculum and prepares lessons to meet students' needs within state and school requirements.
• Confers with parents and staff to develop educational programs for students.
• Creates learning materials geared to students' abilities and interests.
• Instructs students using strategies to improve development and cognitive skills.
• Maintains accurate records as required by law and district regulations.
• Assists administration in implementing school policies and student conduct; sponsors activities and tutors as needed.
