Job summary

University of Mary Washington is seeking a Financial Aid Peer Counselor to handle basic financial aid inquiries by phone, email, and at the front desk. You will explain FAFSA basics and federal aid processes while ensuring confidentiality for student records under FERPA. You will collaborate with the Financial Aid Customer Service Team.

Current UMW students who are eligible for Federal Work Study and comfortable with customer service will fit well in this on-campus role at Lee Hall.

Qualifications

• Must have Federal Work Study Eligibility.
• Must have a current FAFSA and meet SAP requirements.
• Must be friendly and patient, with great organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Answer basic financial aid questions by phone, email, and front desk.
• Explain Federal Student Aid programs and processes to customers.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records per FERPA; work with Financial Aid Customer Service Team.
