Job summary

The University of Tampa in Tampa, FL seeks a Counselor in the Office of Financial Aid to advise students and parents on financing a UTampa education. The role reports to the Associate Director of Financial Aid and may require reporting to work when university offices close due to severe weather or other conditions.

Responsibilities include counseling on aid options, FAFSA completion, packaging aid, verification and loan processing, and representing the financial aid office at outreach events,

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
Knowledge of Federal and State financial aid regulations.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Some travel and a valid driver's license required.
Evenings/weekends/overnight travel may be required.

Responsibilities

Provide exceptional customer service while upholding UTampa's mission and enrollment goals.
Counsel students, applicants and/or family members on financial aid options, costs, and financial responsibilities.
Assist in FAFSA completion.
Package aid, complete verification & loan processing for students in the assigned population.
Use professional judgment to adjust aid eligibility on a case-by-case basis, as allowed by federal regulations and institutional policies.
Coordinate with other institutional offices in the best interest of the student.
