Qualifications

• Must be able to work well both in a team setting and independently.
• Schedule availability must be flexible.
• Ability to multitask while providing excellent customer service to internal and external constituents.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be a full time student at Fitchburg State University.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to perform above duties with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Environmental Health & Safety Officer with maintenance of universal waste, hazardous waste, fire extinguishers and recycling programs.
• Collect and inventory universal waste, such as bulbs, batteries and small electronics.
• Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections.
• Perform area inspections.
• Enter data from inspections and inventories into respective databases.
• Assist with ongoing general safety and environmental compliance projects.
• Provide clerical support to the Environmental Health & Safety Office as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by the Capital Planning and Maintenance Staff.
