Job summary

UW-Stevens Point seeks a Student Manager to oversee student personnel for the Homegrown Café and Common Ground Café. You’ll collaborate with the Assistant Manager to run daily operations, train new students, and pass updates to management.

You will recruit, schedule, and evaluate student staff while ensuring policy compliance and attendance at required meetings. The role requires 20 hours weekly, including weekends, and a criminal background check.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week, including weekend hours.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities and strong communication skills.
• Enrolled as a part-time student with good academic standing and pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, hire, and supervise student employees with support of the Student Employment Office.
• Schedule staff for open facility hours and ensure full coverage.
• Approve bi-weekly timesheets in PeopleSoft by deadline.
• Conduct performance evaluations at probation or semester end.
• Plan orientations and ongoing trainings with Shift Leads and Floor Managers.
• Prepare meeting agendas and coordinate staff development activities.
• Back-up coverage and liaise with Floor Managers and full-time staff.
• Attend monthly Student Manager meetings and mandatory trainings.
