Job summary

University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point is seeking a Cook to join our dining team. This full-time, hourly position provides high-quality culinary services to students, faculty, staff, and guests.

You will ensure standards of service, sanitation, and efficient production of meals according to standardized menus and recipes. The role trains student workers, handles customer inquiries about food preparation, maintains kitchen equipment, and adheres to safety regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to push/pull carts up to 200 lb and lift up to 50 lb.
• Pre‑employment physical required.
• Knowledge of safe use and cleaning of food service equipment (ovens, choppers, slicers).
• Knowledge of food production methods including sanitation, weights and measures.
• Ability to read and follow recipes.
• Basic sanitation and health precautions in food prep.
• AllerTrain and ServSafe certification offered and required within six months.

Responsibilities

• Trains and guides student workers
• Greets customers and provides information on food preparation and related activities
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Performs routine and non-routine food preparation including cook to order and specialty foods
• Adheres to federal, state, campus, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
