Job summary

Deerfield Academy's Library is seeking a part-time Circulation Assistant who reports to the Library Director and collaborates with the library staff. The role focuses on welcoming users, providing circulation services, and assisting with cataloging and processing activities to support academic success.

The position is intermittent during the Academic Year, requiring strong customer service, teamwork, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; an associate’s degree is preferred.
• 1–3 years of library or equivalent experience.
• Strong customer service and ability to create an inclusive environment.
• Proficient with multiple computer systems and library technology.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a welcoming main point of contact for library users.
• Assist with collection development and materials processing.
• Provide circulation services and troubleshoot minor technology issues.
• Monitor building usage and serve as a visible presence.
• Support assessment to advance library goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
