Job summary

Montgomery-Public-Schools seeks a Behavioral Support Paraprofessional to provide intensive 1:1 and small-group support for students with behavioral challenges. You will assist in implementing IEPs and BIPs, collect data, and help maintain documentation, under the guidance of teachers, principals, and BCBA staff.

The role emphasizes fidelity to behavior plans, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and ongoing professional development within a school setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Proficient WorkKeys score required.
• Paraprofessional, RB Therapist, or related experience with children preferred.
• Certification in Protective Restraint Training and 40-hour Behavior Technician coursework required, with only two attempts allowed.
• Candidate may be recommended as a Multi Disability Paraprofessional II and transition to Behavior Support Paraprofessional after requirements completed within 4 weeks.
• Maintain mastery of skills through program implementation with fidelity.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates prompt and regular attendance.
• Work with individual or small groups to reinforce learning based on teacher instruction.
• Assist in implementing instructional programs per lesson plans, 504 plans, IEPs, and BIPs.
• Collect data as prescribed by the team per IEP goals and BIPs.
• Develop strategies to reinforce positive behavior and replacement skills.
• Support students in developing self-directed appropriate behavior and positive peer interactions.
