Job summary

Harlandale Independent School District McCollum HS in San Antonio, Texas is seeking an Attendance Clerk to maintain accurate attendance records and track court referrals and truancy at the secondary level. This nonexempt, full-time position reports to the Principal and is assigned to the McCollum campus with 193 calendar days and an hourly wage of $17.10–$24.12.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Three years clerical experience.
• Ability to use software to develop spreadsheets and databases, and word processing.
• Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance.
• Ability to meet established deadlines.
• Above average oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Issues absence and tardy slips to students during the first hour of the day.
• Assists in the collection of attendance reports from the classroom.
• Assists in keeping of daily attendance sheets and tardiness record.
• Confers with parents on daily absences and makes telephone calls when necessary.
• Refers to the Head Attendance Clerk those cases of chronic absenteeism, tardiness, or truancy.
• Receives and routes all incoming calls.
• Maintains required students’ enrollment and attendance records.
• Informs the visiting teacher(s) of chronic absenteeism.
• Makes arrangements for visiting teacher(s).
• Adds new students and withdraws students on the computer.
• Inputs attendance records on all students on Region 20 system.
• Types memos for Assistant Principal.
• Compile, maintain, file, and distribute all reports, records, and other documents as required following established procedures.
• Keeps informed of and complies with state and district policies and regulations.
