Position Title Student Athletics Communications Assistant
Purpose or role of this position at Morehouse
- Establishes and maintains files and records
- Coordinates and schedules meetings, appointments and special events
- May assist in coordinating and implementing various programs or functions
Duties and Responsibilities
Game Day Coverage
- Help run live scoring and manage in-game updates
- Assist with media check-in, press box setup, and postgame interviews
- Coordinate postgame press releases and coach/player interviews
Content Creation
- Write game previews, recaps, and athlete spotlights
- Capture photos and video clips for social media and archives
- Help manage Morehouse Athletics social media accounts
- Create graphics and highlight reels using Canva or Adobe tools
Communications Support
- Archive game files, rosters, and historical data for institutional records
- Assist in updating bios, schedules, and honors on the athletics website
- Help organize credentialing and media requests
- Contribute to campaigns that highlight student‑athlete achievements, honors, and milestones
Who We’re Looking For
- Current Morehouse student (any major welcome!)
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends during games
- Passion for sports, storytelling, and HBCU excellence
- Experience with Canva, Adobe, or social media platforms is a plus
- Know your way around NCAA stats or want to learn
- Have a creative eye for photography or video
- Care deeply about amplifying Black excellence in athletics

General Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Enrolled student in good academic standing
- Availability for evenings, weekends, and throughout athletic seasons
- Strong attention to detail and situational awareness
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a welcoming demeanor
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors or in fast‑paced environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with scoreboard systems or event logistics
- Understanding of HBCU athletic traditions and institutional protocols
- Interest in sports management, communications, or hospitality
