The Department of Campus Recreation aims to provide fun, inclusive, and engaging recreational programming and facilities for the university’s diverse community in the areas of intramural and sport clubs, fitness and wellness instruction and informal recreational opportunities.

Position Specific Summary

In addition to being able to officiate sports in the Intramural Sports program, the IM Supervisor will operate and administrate specific recreational activities. Spring competitions will include 5 v 5 basketball, laser tag, kickball, volleyball, and esports in indoor and outdoor spaces. Hours are generally from 6pm – 10pm on weeknights and evenings on Saturdays or Sundays:

• Providing conflict and concern resolution support for the referees and players including determining accurate sportsmanship ratings
• Ensuring timely and accurate administrative processes such as team check in and score entry
• Leading set up and breakdown of the equipment and field of play.
• Providing primary response and documentation to GWPD and Intramural staff in the event of a medical emergency or security concern.

Attendance at training on January 10th is mandatory for spring employment.

Standard Position Description

• The student will operate and assist in the management of athletic and recreation activities.
• Tasks may include: performing as an intramural sports referee and provide conflict and concern resolution support for the referees and players, operate and oversee recreational activities, serving as a first responder to all injuries and to follow the emergency action plans, and/or act as a supervisory camp counselor.
• Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental needs.

Required Qualifications

Some applicable educational, technical, or professional experience required, some training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be knowledgeable of the rules and policies and have experience within the sports commonly scheduled as intramural competitions. Working knowledge and familiarity with the DoSportsEasy platform. Willingness and ability to de escalte conflict and have difficult conversations.
