Reports To: Assistant Athletic Director for Student-AthleteSuccess Services Director of Academic Services (dotted line toSenior Associate Athletic Director - Compliance)
The Assistant Athletic Academic Advisor / Compliance Coordinator isresponsible for supporting the academic success and eligibility ofassigned student-athletes while providing administrative support tothe Athletics Compliance Office. This position will manage 1–2assigned teams and assist in monitoring academic progress, NCAAeligibility, and day-to-day compliance operations.
Job Responsibilities
Academic Services (Primary Function):
- Serve as the primary academic advisor for 2-4 assigned athleticteams.
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress toward degree andNCAA eligibility requirements.
- Conduct weekly one-on-one academic meetings withstudent-athletes to promote time management, effective studystrategies, academic progress, and a successful transition to andoverall success at Manhattan University.
- Coordinate academic support services, including tutoring, studyhall, and learning resources.
- Communicate regularly with coaches regarding student-athletes'academic progress, performance, and any academic concerns whilefostering collaboration to support student success.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date academic records andreports.
- Prepare and provide weekly academic updates and progressreports to coaches and athletics staff to support student-athletesuccess and informed decision-making
- Assist with initial and continuing eligibility certification incollaboration with compliance staff.
- Support programming related to academic success, retention, andgraduation initiatives.
Compliance Support (Secondary Function):
- Provide administrative support to the Athletics ComplianceOffice.
- Assist with data entry and maintenance of compliance systems(e.g., recruiting logs, CARA, eligibility tracking).
- Help organize and track required NCAA documentation (e.g.,forms, logs, waivers).
- Support monitoring of recruiting activities,official/unofficial visits, and playing/practice seasons.
- Assist with educational materials and rules educationinitiatives for coaches and student-athletes.
- Maintain organized records to ensure readiness for audits andreviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in highereducation, sports administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience in academic advising, student services, or athleticsadministration preferred.
- Knowledge of NCAA Division I rules and regulations is preferredbut not required.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonalskills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work in a fast-pacedenvironment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learncompliance/academic software systems.
