Norfolk State University is seeking student workers for the AT Lab to assist with reading and scribing, and to learn to use required software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and Dragon NaturallySpeaking. Tasks include helping students print, scan, and operate software, with strict adherence to lab rules.
Wage employees are paid hourly and may work up to 1500 hours per year, with a maximum of 29 hours per week.
Seeking all students but need Juniors and Seniors capableofreading and scribing for students. Learn to use required software in AT LAB i.e. Microsoftoffice suite, Adobeacrobat, adobe reader, Dragon NaturallySpeaking, screen enlargementsoftware, screen reading software and mathtype. Assist students with printing,scanning and using computer software. Follow all rules posted within the labenvironment. Assisting staff with filing, documentation and paperwork as needed. Working up to 6-8hours a week. Workers will need to clean after work stations are used.
Qualifications: Students must be awarded work-study for the 2026Fall term. Students should have a professional appearance and demeanor; theymust be dependable.
Wage employees are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked and are limited to working 1500 hours per year and can only work a maximum of 29 hours a week. Work hours must be counted on the basisof the twelve-month period beginning May 1 of each year and April 30 of the following year. Wage employees in all agencies (all branches of government) are limited to working no more than 1500 hours during each twelve-month period of May 1-April 30. Should you work 1500 hours prior to April 30, your services will be terminated immediately. You will not be eligible for employment again until May 1. It is the responsibility of the employee and supervisor, as well as the Office of Human Resources, to monitor these hours to ensure compliance with policy. Wage employees may not earn leave nor do they have access to the Grievance Procedure process. They are not covered by the provision of the Virginia Personnel Act and are not entitled to the benefits afforded employees occupying classified positions.
