Job summary

Elon University is seeking a Student Account Specialist to handle student account inquiries by phone, email, and in person. The role includes processing payments made on campus, online, by mail or with financial aid, and delivering exceptional service to the Elon University community.

The position is full-time with traditional campus hours (Mon-Fri, 40 hours/week) in the Business and Finance department on the Elon Campus. Strong Excel and Ellucian Colleague experience preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Business or Finance or equivalent
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Excel required
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Cashiering and daily balancing of payments
  • Answering telephone calls and departmental email; provide customer service to students, faculty, and staff
  • Invoice and reconcile departmental charges and process petty cash reimbursements
  • Assist in enrollment processing based on payments and aid notices

Position Summary

This position is primarily responsible for handling student account inquiries by phone, email and in person. Facilitating payments as they are made in person, online, by mail or by financial aid is also a main job function. Delivering exceptional customer service to all of the Elon University community is essential.

Minimum Required Education and Experience

Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Business or Finance with minimum 1 year of experience with the following relevant work experience: Experience with Microsoft Office products, strong Excel skills required.

  • Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague and Informer software desired.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional and productive working relationships at all levels across the University.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities in a fast paced environment.
Preferred Education and Experience

Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree in Business or Finance

  • Strong skills in the areas of conflict resolution and problem solving techniques.
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution.

  • Strong and effective interpersonal skills; the ability to listen well and demonstrate sensitivity to and respect for individual needs.
Job Duties
  • Cashiering and daily balancing of payments made in person and by mail.
  • Answering telephone calls, as well as departmental email and general customer service tasks related to serving students, faculty and staff.
  • Invoice and reconcile departmental charges assessed to student accounts andProcess petty cash reimbursements.
  • Process students for enrollment based on payments and notice of financial aid and assist in all registration events.
