Job summary

Horrocks seeks a Bridge Engineer to support the design and review of structural components for roadways and site civil projects. You will perform load ratings and develop PS&E documents in collaboration with bridge staff to meet client objectives.

Qualified candidates have a B.S. in Civil Engineering (M.S. with structures a plus), a P.E. license (a plus), and 3–7 years of bridge experience. Travel and fieldwork may be required, with a strong focus on client relationships and regional growth.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering (Master's with a structures emphasis a plus).
  • Passed P.E. exam (Registered P.E. a plus).
  • 3-7 years of experience.
  • Knowledgeable in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, Microstation.
  • Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects.
  • Prepare structure type selection studies.
  • Work in cooperation with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, and state DOTs.
  • Perform bridge designs and load ratings using spreadsheets, finite element software and/or other bridge software.
  • Assist the local team to establish and maintain client relationships; coordinate and communicate with clients to ensure project design objectives are met and client satisfaction.
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation related structural engineering.

  • Prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines, answering to various engineers and project managers
  • Experience working in bridge design team
  • Manage project data files from various sources
  • Be proactive and responsive in effectively communicating with colleagues and clients, both in-person and virtually/remotely
  • Ability to travel and perform fieldwork on occasion
  • Must be able to work independently with the ability to accomplish multiple tasks, with competing priorities
