Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Structures Engineer to join our progressive, employee-focused regional firm. You will design and prepare construction documents for complex vertical-structure projects, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to meet PS&E objectives.

Ideal candidates bring 7–10 years of design experience, a civil engineering degree, and PE licensure or the ability to obtain it within one year. Some travel and local project work are expected.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 7–10 years of design experience.
  • PE licensure or ability to obtain within one year.
  • Willingness to work locally or travel for projects.
  • Experience in multidisciplinary teams is a plus.
  • Design Build/Alternative Delivery experience is a plus.
  • Established relationships with local clients (DOT) is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of vertical structure projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyze vertical structures for site/civil projects.
  • Prepare designs, calculations, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary staff to deliver PS&E documents on time and within budget.
  • Perform structural analysis using Enercalc, L-Pile, STAAD and other Bentley software.
  • Design and analyze concrete vaults, culverts, storage tanks, and booster station structures.
  • Design and analyze foundations, abutments, and various types of specialty components.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; meet client objectives.
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering.
  • Structures lead for smaller projects, coordinating staff and design efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and analyze vertical structures for site/civil projects
  • Prepare designs, structural calculations, cost estimates, and specifications
  • Work in cooperation with a multidisciplinary staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, state DOTs, and developers
  • Perform structural analysis using Enercalc, L-Pile, STAAD and other Bentley Engineering software
  • Design and analyze concrete vaults, culverts, storage tanks, and booster station structures in support of municipal projects
  • Design and analyze foundations, abutments, and various types of specialty components in support of federal projects
  • Design and analyze retaining walls and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
  • Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering
  • Structures lead for smaller projects, coordinating staff and design efforts
Skills, Knowledge And Expertise
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • 7 to 10 years of design experience
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure or ability to obtain PE within one year
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary teams a plus
  • Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
  • Established relationships with local clients (Department of Transportation) a plus
  • Solid understanding of vertical structure projects and multiple types of construction
