Job summary

Horrocks is seeking an experienced civil engineer to lead bridge design and transportation structures work in our Utah region. The role focuses on design, analysis, and coordination with clients and agency partners to deliver PS&E and contract documents on schedule and within budget.

You will manage design teams, engage with DOT clients, and advance the firm’s regional presence in transportation engineering, requiring strong leadership and a track record in multi-office collaboration.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering required and Registered PE license.
• 8–15+ years of civil engineering experience.
• Willingness to travel locally or with other offices.
• Ability to lead project teams and coordinate staff and clients.
• Design Build/Alternative Delivery experience a plus.
• Established relationships with local DOT clients a plus.
• Solid understanding of transportation projects.

Responsibilities

• Design, evaluate, and check sheets/calculations for highway/railroad/pedestrian bridges and other transportation structures.
• Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications.
• Deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within project budget for local agencies, federal agencies, and state DOTs.
• Perform or check bridge designs using listed software (CSi Bridge, MIDAS, VBent, PG Super, LEAP, BRASS, Mathcad).
• Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction and objectives are met.
• Build a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering.
• Structures lead for projects, coordinating staff and design efforts.

Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
• Registered PE license
• 8 to 15+ years of experience
• Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required--
• Must be able to work effectively as a team leader in a group environment and maintain positive relationships with team members and clients
• Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
• Established relationships with local clients (DOT) a plus
• Solid understanding of transportation projects
