Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Bridge Engineer to design, evaluate, and analyze highway, railroad, and pedestrian bridges. You will prepare designs, estimates, and PS&E documents, collaborating with staff to meet project budgets and deadlines.

The role requires a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a PE license, with 4–8 years of related experience. Travel to local projects and office collaboration are expected.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in civil engineering is required.
  • Registered PE license is required.
  • 4 to 8 years of experience in related projects.
  • Willingness to travel and work on local or joint office projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design, evaluate, and analyze highway/railroad/pedestrian bridges and other transportation structures.
  • Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications.
  • Collaborate with bridge staff to deliver PS&E documents within budget and schedule.
  • Perform or check bridge designs using listed structural software.
  • Assist in sustaining firm presence in transportation and structural engineering.

What are the core responsibilities for the role?
  • Design, evaluate, and analyze highway/railroad/pedestrian bridges/other transportation structures
  • Prepare designs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and specifications
  • Work in cooperation with bridge staff to deliver PS&E contract documents on time and within the project budget for local agencies, federal agencies and state DOTs
  • Perform or check bridge designs using CSi Bridge, MIDAS, VBent, PG Super, LEAP, BRASS, Mathcad, and/or other bridge software
  • Design or check retaining wall and other structural components in support of roadway or site civil projects
  • Assist in building a strong regional presence for the firm in transportation and structural engineering
Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies
  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering
  • Registered PE license
  • 4 to 8 years of experience
  • Willingness to work on projects locally or in workshare with other offices, some travel required--
  • Experience working in bridge design teams a plus
  • Design Build and Alternative Delivery experience a plus
  • Solid understanding of transportation projects
