Job summary

Aerotek is seeking an experienced Structural Welder for a contract role in Gaffney, SC. The position focuses on MIG welding of structural steel, interpreting blueprints, and fabricating assemblies in a shop environment.

The role requires reading welding symbols, using measuring tools, and adhering to safety guidelines in a fast-paced setting. Onsite work with standard shop equipment and material handling support is provided.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as Structural Welder or similar role.
• Proficient in MIG welding on carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience in structural steel fabrication shop preferred.
• Ability to use measuring tools such as tape measures, squares and calipers.

Job Title: Structural Welder

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Structural Welder to join our fabrication team in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will have experience performing MIG welding on structural steel components, reading blueprints, and working safely in a fast-paced fabrication setting. This position involves fitting, welding, and fabricating structural steel assemblies according to specifications and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG welding on structural steel components and assemblies.
• Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and welding symbols.
• Fabricate, fit, tack, and weld structural steel beams, columns, plates, and miscellaneous steel components.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, cutting torches, and other fabrication tools.
• Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality and project specifications.
• Measure, mark, and lay out materials for fabrication.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with material handling using overhead cranes, forklifts, and other shop equipment as needed.
• Work efficiently to meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Structural Welder, Fabricator, or Combination Welder.
• Proficient in MIG welding on carbon steel.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols.
• Experience working in a structural steel fabrication shop preferred.
• Ability to use measuring tools including tape measures, squares, levels, and calipers.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Gaffney, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
