Aerotek is seeking an experienced Welder for its Clearwater, FL fabrication team. The role focuses on fitting, welding, and cleaning welds to produce quality components per engineering drawings and specs.

Job Description

This role focuses on fitting, welding, and cleaning welds to produce high-quality fabricated components and assemblies. You will utilize a range of welding techniques to build parts according to engineering drawings and specifications, assemble them into larger structures, and ensure all work meets established quality standards. The position involves working closely with engineering and manufacturing teams, maintaining welding equipment, and documenting work performed and materials used.

Responsibilities
  • Fit, weld, and clean welds on small and larger fabricated components to meet engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Utilize TIG and MIG welding techniques to fabricate components from stainless steel and carbon steel materials.
  • Assemble fabricated components into larger structures, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and structural integrity.
  • Inspect finished workpieces to verify conformance to quality and production standards, making necessary adjustments as required.
  • Perform regular maintenance and basic troubleshooting on welding equipment to ensure optimal functioning and minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to plan and execute welding and fabrication tasks accurately.
  • Work closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to address production requirements and resolve fabrication-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and any quality control measures implemented.
  • Handle small parts and standard assembly work using the same machine setup, as well as volume assembly involving multiple machine processing.
  • Use measuring tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and tolerances throughout the fabrication process.
  • Operate within a production environment, meeting deadlines and output expectations while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Ensure adherence to safety procedures and best practices while working with welding equipment and within the fabrication facility.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of working experience in welding and fabrication.
  • TIG welding experience, including work with stainless steel materials, is required.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and engineering drawings.
  • Hands-on fabrication experience, including working with sheet metal, pipe, and tube components.
  • Ability to work with stainless steel materials from 18 gauge up to 1/4 inch thick.
  • Experience using MIG welding techniques is highly preferred.
  • Capability to perform production welding and fabrication with consistent quality and efficiency.
  • Competence in using tape measures and other basic measuring tools for precise fabrication work.
  • Ownership of basic tools and welding gear, or ability to obtain them within 30 days of hire.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with flux core welding processes.
  • Recent experience in working with both stainless steel and carbon steel materials.
  • Ability to perform blueprint reading in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Comfort working on small parts, standard assembly, and volume assembly operations.
  • Experience in non-structural welding applications; structural-only backgrounds may be less aligned with this role.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Good record-keeping habits for documenting work performed, materials used, and quality control measures.

The schedule follows a Monday through Thursday workweek with no weekend shifts, supporting predictable hours. Employees are expected to use appropriate safety footwear and personal welding gear while working in the shop.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Clearwater, FL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
