Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Lead RN/Charge Nurse for Springfield Regional Medical Center to coordinate patient care on a designated unit in collaboration with the Clinical Manager. The role emphasizes clinical leadership, staff guidance, and maintaining a safe, efficient care environment.

Responsibilities include staffing adjustments, rounds, mentoring, and active participation in quality monitoring and interprofessional teamwork to ensure optimal patient outcomes and satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (preferred)
• Current RN license in the state they are working or covered by compact
• BLS Basic Life Support (preferred upon hire)
• Certifications preferred based on unit overseen (PALS, ACLS, NRP, TNCC, ENPC)
• National Board Certification or specialty certifications (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Coordinate patient care on a designated unit in partnership with the Clinical Manager.
• Guide staff, provide clinical support, and oversee unit operations in the absence of the leader.
• Maintain knowledge of safety and infection control standards and ensure proper supplies and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families about care plans and interventions.
• Round on patients to monitor safety, quality, and experience; mentor staff as needed.
• Serve as a resource to staff, patients, and families and model strong communication.
• Act as a preceptor and participate in interprofessional collaboration to ensure care coordination.
• Contribute to quality monitoring and performance improvement activities on the unit.
• Support admission, transfer, and discharge processes; resolve operational issues with other departments.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to nursing and support staff; promote teamwork and conflict resolution.
