Job summary

The KPFF Special Projects Group in Tacoma is offering a summer internship for a junior, senior or graduate student in civil/structural engineering. It is a 40-hour week for up to 90 days, with work spanning heavy civil, transportation, waterfront infrastructure, and related disciplines across the West Coast and Pacific Northwest.

You will assist a structural engineer with design tasks, site visits, documentation, and cost estimating, and learn through hands-on projects with a collaborative team

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project team members and clients.
• Detail oriented with desire for continued learning.
• Willingness to work on a variety of projects.
• Structural analysis coursework, including moment and shear diagrams and load calculations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist a structural engineer with project design tasks, including calculations, member sizing and detailing, documentation, plan production and cost estimating.
• Assist with project site visits and ensure safety requirements are followed on site and in the office.
