Job summary

KPFF Special Projects Group in Tacoma is offering a summer internship for a Civil Engineering student (Junior/Senior or Graduate) to gain hands-on experience in structural design. The role supports engineers with calculations, detailing, plan production, and cost estimating, while also participating in site visits.

Projects span ports, highways, waterfront infrastructure, and maritime facilities across the US.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project team members and clients on a variety of projects.
• Detail oriented and desire for continued learning.
• Willingness to work on a variety of projects.
• Structural analysis coursework, including moment and shear diagrams, load calculations, load paths, and mechanics of materials. Concrete, steel, foundation engineering, and/or timber coursework is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.
• Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Interest in pursuing a career as a structural engineer after college.

Responsibilities

• Assist a structural engineer with calculations, member sizing and detailing, documentation, plan production and review, and cost estimating.
• Assist with project site visits and comply with safety requirements.
