Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Structural Engineering Intern in Chattanooga to support project teams under engineer supervision. You will assist with calculations, drawings review, and applying structural design principles to steel, concrete, and foundation elements as part of substations and related structures.

The intern will gain hands-on experience in materials behavior, structural analysis, and design while contributing to real-world projects in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Active enrollment in a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Structural/Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Strong academic background with interest in materials behavior, structural analysis, and design.
• Good verbal and written communication skills along with strong PC skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing engineering calculations, specifications, and designs.
• Assist in reviewing structural design drawings and vendor drawings.
• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, steel design, reinforced concrete design and foundations.
• Support a team of engineers and designers in structural analysis and design of steel, concrete, platforms and foundations.
