Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Structural Engineering Intern in Los Angeles, CA for a 10-12 week summer program. You will assist in the analysis, design, and oversight of structural systems on commercial and institutional projects, gaining hands-on experience under a mentoring team.

This paid internship offers real project work alongside experienced engineers and consultants, with site observations and collaboration across disciplines to support sustainable design goals including SE2050.

Qualifications

• Completed at least 2 years toward a BS degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering.
• Proficient with MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Skilled in AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
• Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project design for structural systems in accordance with applicable codes and IMEG standards.
• Assist with researching and locating project resources.
• Support client relations, project design notebooks, and permanent-record documentation.
• Assist with coordinating design and schedules with architectural, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, supplier, and other disciplines.
• Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions while monitoring project design progress.
• Assist with reviewing project documents for accuracy and completeness before final review.
• Assist with preparing and issuing addendum information.
• Conduct periodic job-site observations and provide other services required by the contract services agreement.
